Unbiased look at the Sint Maarten Elections
PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad--British comedian John Oliver, the host of the HBO series "Last Week Tonight," purchased time on Trinidad television on Tuesday night to urge the indicted former FIFA vice president Jack Warner to keep a promise and tell all he knows about the organisation. This is according to a report from Caribbean News Now.
Warner bought time on the same channel TV6 last week to claim he had an "avalanche" of damning information about FIFA's corruption, following his arrest along with several other FIFA officials on bribery and fraud charges. Warner was taken into custody in Trinidad and subsequently released on bail pending extradition to the US.
Oliver used the airtime to entreat Jack Warner to "release everything," because "I've been looking through the indictment and ... good luck with that."
"Here's my argument: Why the hell not?" Oliver said in his parody, "The Mittens of Disapproval Are On." (Warner's was called "The Gloves Are Off.") "It's not like you're not potentially in a lot of trouble."
Oliver urged Warner to turn on FIFA because he shouldn't underestimate "how much people might be willing to forgive."
Oliver added: "It's like they say, snitches get smooches ... So please release the documents, Mr. Warner, and you may yet salvage your completely tattered reputation." ~ Curaçao Chronicle ~
