GREAT BAY. St. Maarten - “Super Girls, making a remarkable difference” is the theme of Little Miss St.Martin Pageant 2015 slated for Sunday November 1st at the Philipsburg Cultural Center , 4pm sharp stated Ms. Nzinga Lake, Pageant Director.

“I want the contestants to show the audience in their eyes what they can change in their schools, their community and the world with their hidden powers” stated Ms. Nzinga Lake, Pageant Director.

“This year, five contestants will be competing for the title of Little Miss St.Martin.

They are, Shanielya Arrindell of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. School, Jerinelle Louisa of Sister Marie Laurence School, Keyshia Philander of the Sister Magda Primary School , Gabriëlle Brooks- Ellis of the Methodist Agogic Center, Browlia F. Maillard Campus and Reshanty Samboe of the Sister Magda Primary School.

The Little Miss St.Martin Pageant is an event for the St.Maarten/ St.Martin Day calendar said organizer Ms. Nzinga Lake. The pageant is open to girls’ ages 7 to 12 years old.

The main idea of the little Miss St.Martin Pageant is two folds. “Firstly, the pageant looks to serve as a motivational event and to inspire positive activities for young girls.

‘Secondly, the pageant honors the traditional sense of unity that St.Maarten & St.Martin Day was founded on. That is also why we are using the traditional spelling of our island’s name in identifying the Pageant”, said organizer.

The competing categories are customary for junior and senior pageants on an island where beauty contest have been many and have remained a popular family show over the years.

“But for the Little Miss St. Martin Pageant, it’s the twist that we plan to require for the Introduction, Talent, What I want to be when I grow up, and Princess Wear, that will make us a bit more creative than usual. We want to challenge the little princesses as much as entertain our audience,” said Lake. 

Last year, Trinity Christina of the Sister Borgia School captured the 2015 title of Little Miss St.Martin Pageant. Trinity also won a saving plan courtesy of First Caribbean Bank, a trip for two compliments of Travel Planners and a camera for her school sponsored by Brooks and Associates.

Inaya Richardson of the Dr.Martin Luther King School placed 1st runners up, 2nd runners Laetiticia Cozier of Asha Stevens Christian School and Aaliyahe Harrigan of the Methodist Agogic Center placed 3rd runners up.
