Unbiased look at the Sint Maarten Elections
Dear Editor,
Permit me to express a word of caution to our new Minister of VROMI, Claret Connor. I write this article with such a heavy heart, because I know that you are not in the right place but as much as I would like the situation to be different, only you have the authority to choose the direction of your life. However, it is the prerogative of any individual to make comments that could generate further thought. With this in mind, I would like to bring a few points forward, with the HOPE that, you, the minister would give them some consideration.
Minister Connor, as I mentioned in a preceding article, you are loved; not just for good looks, but your character is what separates you from many of these deceitful politicians. Your moral values have been the compass that have guided your direction and kept you anchored thus far. When these ideals are trampled upon, then you’ll lose total control and become like a ship without a rudder.
Does this picture reflect your aspirations at this moment or even those prior to last year’s election? If not, you really need to think about the legacy that you wish to leave, because the security of the evaluation will depend on your performance.
The people were really looking forward to you staying in the position as the Tourism Minister, because we were assured that you have the capability to stimulate the economy, so that more opportunities would be provided to generate legitimate incomes for families who are struggling.
Right now, you are one of the few politicians that are well respected. This is because of your character, but I am afraid that this feeling of trust will evaporate, because these ego-centric, greedy and power hungry politicians will use you to carry out their agendas. This kind of control starts very subtle and before you know it, you’ll be sucked into situations, without any form of escape. Then, undoubtedly, you will be cast in the same basket as those who have betrayed the people.
Is this the perception that you wish to attract and how do you see your life at the end of this political term? Would you be at ease with your conscience or would it harass you to the point where you won’t be able to rest peacefully at nights?
Remember that right thinking automatically follows right actions. These are the words that originate from the book that has taught us how to live a principled life. Put your people first! God bless and stay strong!
