Unity, Theme Word For St. Maarten/St. Martin Day 2015

PHILIPSBURG, St. Maarten - President of the Collectivite of St. Martin Madame Aline Hanson told her peers and those gathered to celebrate St. Maarten/St. Martin Day 2015 that their aim is to go forward, as they look towards developing the island.

She also spoke of the areas of cooperation between St. Maarten/St. Martin.

Outgoing Prime Minister, the Honorable Marcel Gumbs of St. Maarten stressed on the need for one to practice what they preach. He remarked: “If we are talking unity, if we are talking about one island, I can look at many here in this crowd, who have told me they got months that they have not gone to the French side”.

The Prime Minister also spoke of some of the many areas of understanding that his cabinet has with the French side.

Prime Minister Gumbs also spoke about some of the projects that the two sides have been working on jointly.

Meanwhile, His Excellency Governor drs. Eugene Holiday told the audience that St. Maarten’s Day should remind us that like a good family, we must remain united to be strong in good and hard times, if we are to continue our journey towards more success.
