Unbiased look at the Sint Maarten Elections

St. Maarten News – The St. Maarten debate team that finished runner up in the Leeward Islands Debate Competition travels today to New York, together with the teams from Anguilla and Antigua to take part in a similar event at the Medgar Evers College.
The local team consists of Dwayne Griffith, Alexandria Baly and D’Shnay Matthew York.
Griffith is enrolled in the GED tutorial program at the University of Saint Martin, where Baly is a second year student in the general liberal arts program. Matthew York is a student at the Charlotte Brookson Academy.
The first debate sees St. Maarten as a proponent and Anguilla as an opponent to the moot “The Caribbean is not doing enough to combat child abuse.â€
In the second moot St. Maarten will face Antigua as the proponent of “The marginalization of men has led to the breakdown of Caribbean society.â€
Moderator for the debates is Roberto Arrindell.
The organizers say that the upcoming debates are “no longer a competition but an exhibition of the very best talents in the Leeward Islands debating competition. The purpose is to showcase the high quality of debating.â€
