Unbiased look at the Sint Maarten Elections
WASHINGTON – A delegation from St. Maarten led by Prime Minister William Marlin attended last Tuesday a reception in honor of delegations co-hosted by Secretary of State John Kerry and the Council of the Americas. The reception was held at the Benjamin Franklin Room at the U.S. State Department. It was a mix and mingle reception and Secretary John Kerry and Ambassador John Negroponte, Council of Americas Chairman Emeritus gave opening remarks. The reception served as both the close of the Council of the Americas 46th Annial Washington Conference and the opening for the U.S.-Caribbean-Central American Energy Summit. There were some 200 Council of the Americas guests from the private sector present. On Wednesday morning the Caribbean heads of delegation met with Vice President Joe Biden. There were delegations from Antigua and Barbuda, Aruba, Bahamas, Barbados, Cuba, Curaçao, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Montserrat, Sint Maarten, St. Kitts & Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago and the Secretary-General of the CARICOM Secretariat, Irwin LaRocque. Also participating were IDB, OAS, World Bank, CDB, Canada and Mexico.
