Unbiased look at the Sint Maarten Elections
PHILIPSBURG, St. Maarten - On September 25th and 26th 2014, the Social Economic Council (SER) of Sint Maarten took part in the international conference "Economic growth by strengthening human capital and industrial performance" which was held in Willemstad, Curacao.
The conference was hosted by the International Association of Economic and Social Councils and Similar Institutions (AICESIS) in collaboration with SER Curacao, AICESIS is a worldwide organization representing 70 member states from four different continents.
AICESIS functions as an important international organization for social and economic policy.
Acting Chairman of the SER Curacao Mr. John Jacobs, welcomed all the representatives of the AICESIS from Latin America and the Caribbean.
The purpose of the meeting was to better identify patterns, bottlenecks, issues of common interest and solutions for economic growth and the strengthening of human capital and industrial performance in the region.
Representatives from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), and several member states were present to give lectures on Economic growth and human capital.
Various Social and Economic Councils of Latin America and the Caribbean shared their best practices regarding the theme of the conference.
SER Chairwoman Oldine Bryson-Pantophlet elaborated on the topic of economic growth and the development of human capital as they relate to Sint Maarten. The comments of the Sint Maarten delegation were well received.
The Sint Maarten delegation consisted of SER chairwoman Oldine Bryson-Pantophlet, SER Vice Chairman member Dwight Williams and Secretary-General Gerard Richardson.
