PHILIPSBURG, St. Maarten - We have had enough interference from Holland in the affairs of St. Maarten, newly formed committee "Citizens United for True Democracy" told members of the media on Monday morning.

The committee consists of among others as members Etienne "Touchie" Meyers, Elton Jones and Edwin Gumbs.

The objective of the committee is to send a clear message to Holland, in particular to Ronald van Raak of the Socialist Party and Andre Bosman of the VVD.

As a result, the organization is gearing up towards holding a peaceful march and manifestation.

The march, which is set for Monday October 13th will start from the WIFOL building at 1 pm and will end in front of the Government Administration Building where the manifestation will take place.

Seemingly, the group is not too please with some of the things that are being said about St. Maarten and its people by certain individuals in Holland, namely van Raak and Bosman.

That sentiment was echoed during a press conference on Monday morning at the WIFOL building.

According to Elton Jones, the democracy of St. Maarten is under attack.

He is of the opinion that a new government is elected, and therefore, should be afforded the opportunity to implement some of the recommendation from the various committees on the integrity issue.

He noted: "We are going to move the people to get a clear message to the Dutch that the days of colonialism and Massa is over."

Meanwhile, Etienne "Touchie" Meyers told journalists on Monday morning during the press conference that the situation is really getting out of hand and therefore, they had to step forward.

Mr. Meyers is also of the opinion that their democracy is under attack. He was also very critical of van Raak and Bosman.

Edwin Gumbs is also a member of the newly established committee.

Whilst speaking at the press conference on Monday, he also indicated that our democracy was being trampled on by MPs van Raak and Bosman.
