PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten — As the Rotary Year 2016-2017 advances in this 4th quarter of the year, the Rotary club of St. Martin Sunrise celebrates it’s membership by highlighting a couple of persons each week. This is an effort that commenced in August last year as part of Rotary’s Membership Month., a month of significance when the club seeks various ways to motivate membership and reach out to potential new Rotarians.

In this profile highlight, Rotary Sunrise introduces two of our great members, Ms. Damali Bryson and Mr. Ruminni Rogers!

Meet Ms. Bryson:

Ms. Bryson was born on December 27, 1979. She is a Critical Care Nurse at the Sint Maarten Medical Center since 2012. After completing her studies in the Netherlands, she worked there for some years before moving back to Sint Maarten. Damali is an energetic, team player, and a people’s person who is keen to contribute to the island’s further development. As a Critical Care Nurse, Damali works in the Emergency Room, often spending long hours at work.

On New year’s Eve, when most people were at home or with friends ringing in the new year, Damali was with her colleagues at the ER. She does this with a big smile and open heart because she loves that she can assist people in need. In the past, she was only in the hospital and then home. Rotary has now given her the opportunity to meet people from different life experiences. She likes the young professional nature of Rotary Sunrise, the community service orientation and has met new people in different fields through her membership in Rotary Sunrise.

As the President Elect for the upcoming Rotary Year 2017-2018, she looks forward to continuing the signature projects of the club such as the Readers Are Leaders; the Peace Committee; and any team building activities that include old fashion fun games played in the past.

Rumi joined the Rotary Club of St. Martin Sunrise in January 2016 after serving several years in the Rotaract Club of St. Martin Sunrise. In that position, he has been instrumental in kick starting the youth branches of the Rotary Club of St. Martin sunrise on the island such as the Interact Club of Sundial and the Early Act Club of Hillside Christian School Asha Stevens Campus.
