Carty and Felicie made payments without the approval of Board of Directors.
PHILIPSBURG:--- Minister of VSA Emil Lee approved NAF. 25,000.00 as remuneration for the Director of SZV Glen Carty which was recently paid to Carty without the approval of the Board of Directors of SZV.Information reaching SMN News states that Glen Carty and the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Elton Felicie signed off on the payment which was made last week to Carty while the members of the board of directors sat back and allowed the management team to continue draining the accounts of SZV. SZV has lost a substantial amount of revenue since the passing of hurricane Irma which caused a number of hotels and other businesses to close their doors.It should be noted that Glen Carty holds two major full-time positions on St. Maarten, one being the CEO of UTS St. Maarten and the Director of SZV where he is receiving salaries and benefits for both jobs while many on St. Maarten are jobless and roofless. Ever since Carty took office he has been investing SZV funds heavily, some being the $10M loan he gave to the harbor, the financing of the Government Administration Building and the enormous amount of money spent on consultation fees for the New General Hospital which is nowhere in sight.While the Chairlady of SZV Supervisory Board Sharine Daniel is known for her hands-on approach when it comes to auditing and safeguarding funds at GEBE, Daniel chose to turn a blind eye at the misspending at SZV simply because she supports the leader of the Democratic Party Sarah Wescot Williams and Emil Lee. Daniel it is understood is fully aware of the remuneration Lee signed on for Carty but she has done nothing to prevent the illegal payment from being made.Efforts made by SMN News to contact Daniel for a comment Thursday evening proved futile.
