Unbiased look at the Sint Maarten Elections
PHILIPSBURG:--- The St. Maarten Chamber of Commerce and Industry would like to inform its Registrants that during the postulation period that ended on Tuesday, November 16th, 2021, eight (8) persons submitted their postulation forms for the three (3) vacancies on its Board of Directors. For the Large Business Sector, there are two (2) vacancies and for the Small Business Sector, there is one (1) vacancy on its Board of Directors. For the Large Business Sector, six (6) persons postulated themselves, and for the Small Business Sector, six (6) persons postulated themselves.The screening of the candidates' submission forms was conducted by the Election Committee members, Messer: Cleophas Richardson, Mryna Lynch, John Hodge, and Tyrone Yates.Six (6) nomination forms were returned to the nominees, four (4) Large and two (2) Small for revision of shortcomings/defaults. The deadline for resubmission was Friday, November 19th, 2021 at 12:00 noon.Upon the results of there-submitting of the nomination of candidates for the Board of Directors of the St. Maarten Chamber of Commerce and Industry.Three nomination forms did not met the requirements for the Large Business Sector.Two nomination forms did meet the requirements for the Small Business Sector.0Three (3) candidates were nominated for two (2) positions on the Board of Directors representing the Large Business sector. They are Peggy Ann Brandon, Jennifer Carty, and Benjamin Ortega. Six (6) candidates were nominated for the one (1) position on the Board of Directors representing the Small sector. They are Michel Arrindell, Ifelola Badejo, Amanda S.Vital-Bedminisier, Jennifer Carty, Edsel Gumbs, and Paulina Nzinga Lake.
Chamber of Commerce General Election for the Board of Directors will be held on Friday, December 3rd 2021from 8:30 am until 12:00 noon.
