Unbiased look at the Sint Maarten Elections
PHILIPSBURG:--- As 2022 drew to a close, Its Time SXM Found. ended its year-long series of community-building events and activities by hosting a grand New Years Eve (NYE) Celebration to recognize the Senior citizens. This event was held in partnership with the Helping Hands Foundation and the St.Maarten Lions Club on December 30, 2022, at the Senior Recreational Center in the HOPE Estate.
Many Seniors spend the holidays alone, sick, and/or shut in. Several are silently depressed, particularly during the festive Christmas season. We were therefore extremely proud to step up to the plate and collaborate with several of these highly esteemed organizations that cater to our seniors and make use of this special occasion to celebrate our Seniors. As we marked the end of the year, this occasion was celebrated in honour of those seniors who dedicated their entire lives towards building the traditions and communities that we are able to enjoy today. We are truly grateful for these opportunities to salute all our senior citizens! shared Ohndhae Cloyd Marlin, President of the Its Time SXM Found. This very sentiment was also echoed by the President of the HHF, Mr. A.Rogers.
More than a hundred seniors were in attendance at this festive event that featured our local young stars/artists, like Benjamin Bell, Shanella Romney, and Melissa Constant. Further entertainment was provided by DJ Ruby and the Family String Band who brought the seniors to their feet as they enjoyed dancing to this music. Additionally, Roberto C. Arrindell graced the stage by sharing an engaging rendition of his poetry and O. Cloyd Marlin occasionally shared inspiring words of gratitude and uplifting words of encouragement to the seniors throughout the event. Food and drinks were provided in abundance, sponsored by Kreative Juices and Its Time SXM Found. The Dinner included fruit bowls, soups, and an elaborate main course of many dishes. The serving of the meals was coordinated by the Lions and Leos who were on hand to render their much-appreciated services.
In the spirit of giving at Christmas a variety of hand-made gift items were raffled off and presented to several seniors in attendance. The occasion brought smiles to the faces of the many seniors who became quite active and engaged as they enjoyed the selection of songs, poetry, and music, Cloyd Marlin remarked. In conclusion: The seniors' NYE celebration was an enjoyable and memorable occasion that brought together the perfect collaboration of organizations. Its Time SXM Found remains dedicated to reaching out to our communities, committed to building a better, brighter, and stronger St. Martin. For further information, please follow/like the Facebook page; Its Time SXM Found.
