Tropical Storm Warning Discontinued. Residents Advised To Remain Vigilant This Hurricane Season.

PHILIPSBURG (DCOMM) :--- The Tropical Storm Warning that was issued in connection with Tropical Storm Grace was discontinued on Sunday morning as Grace moved further away from the country.

National Disaster Coordinator/Fire Chief Clive Richardson, said on Sunday that the storm passed well south of the country without incident.

Richardson added on behalf of Prime Minister and Chair of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Silveria Jacobs, the nation prepared in a timely manner with respect to Tropical Storm Grace, the seventh named storm of the 2021 Atlantic hurricane season, however, residents must continue to remain vigilant as the country moves into the peak period of the season, August 15 to October 15.

PHILIPSBURG (DCOMM):---The Fire Department/Office of Disaster Management (ODM) Fire Chief Clive Richardson says that as of 5.00 pm Sint Maarten is under a Tropical Storm Watch.

A Tropical Storm Watch means that tropical storm conditions are possible within the watch area within 48 hours.

Residents are advised to closely monitor the progress of Tropical Depression #7 (TD#7) which was upgraded from a tropical cyclone. Depression #7 is forecast to become a tropical storm tonight or on Saturday.

GREAT BAY, Sint Maarten (DCOMM) The Fire Department/Office of Disaster Management (ODM) Fire Chief Clive Richardson is calling on the community to closely monitor the progress of Potential Tropical Cyclone #7 (TC#7).

According to the Meteorological Department of Sint Maarten (MDS), TC#7 on Friday morning was approximately 930 miles southeast of Sint Maarten.

This system is being closely monitored by ODM and MDS as it is expected to approach the Lesser Antilles this weekend, and therefore residents and the business community are also advised to follow official weather reports. 

In MDS Special Weather Statement on Friday morning, impacts on the local area are possible Saturday night through Sunday with heavy rainfall and gusty winds.

Community Advised To Monitor The Progress Potential Tropical Cyclone #6 East Of The Lesser Antilles

PHILIPSBURG (DCOMM):---The Fire Department/Office of Disaster Management (ODM) Fire Chief Clive Richardson is calling on the community to closely monitor the progress of Potential Tropical Cyclone #6 (TC#6) that is expected to pass approximately 120 miles south of Sint Maarten on Tuesday.

Chairlady of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC), Prime Minister Hon. Silveria Jacobs, on Monday evening, said: Residents are requested to remain vigilant and prepared at all times, ensuring to stay tuned to Government-authorized broadcasts to monitor this and all pending tropical systems.

According to the Meteorological Department of Sint Maarten (MDS), TC#6 is forecast during its passage to bring rainfall amounts of about 1-2 inches, wind gusts up to 30 mph and thunderstorms from early Tuesday morning through Wednesday.

Consensus Kingdom Law Amendments Near Completion

Philipsburg, Sint Maarten — The Prime Ministers of St. Maarten, Curacao and Aruba have been participating in Four-Country Ministerial Consultations together with Demissionary State Secretary of Interior and Kingdom Relations Knops since July 15th to discuss the remaining items of concern of the countries on the proposed amendments to the Consensus Kingdom Law.

In March of this year, the Council of State confirmed many of the concerns of Sint Maarten and the other countries pertaining to the content of the law.Since then, fromMarch26th until July 19th, many adjustments have been made and discussions have taken place on a technical level to come to principal agreements on the best way to address these concerns raised and finalized in the proposed further report.
