Ground Breaking for In-Cargo Building at PJIAE.

Airport:--- The Managing Director and other staff of the management team of the Princess Juliana International Airport held the ground breaking ceremony on Tuesday to commence the building of the Cargo Building. While the project is deemed as facelift for the cargo building, Managing Director of PJIAE Regina Labega said that the project is a multi-million dollar project that will create about 115 jobs which will cost the PJIAE $4.6M. The main reason for such an investment Labega said that is to ensure that PJIAE is ahead of the competition and also to ensure that that St. Maarten's airport is not downgraded by Moodys. The project which will be done in two phases and should be completed by March 2016.
Labega said the project kicked off with former Minister of VROMI Maurice Lake and now has the full support of Prime Minister Marcel Gumbs who is the acting as Minister of VROMI.
Labeba said four contractors won the bid but the contract was awarded to Taliesin Construction who also won the bid for the FBO project. Construction will be in two phases Labega told reporters.
Other speakers were Ludwig Ouenniche who represented the Minister said that the In-cargo building is something that is much needed on St. Maarten since the island imports everything.
