PHILIPSBURG, St. Maarten - The Tripartite meeting between Members of Parliament of Aruba, Curacao and St. Maarten ended here on Tuesday Morning.

The urgently convene meeting between the parties was to discuss some issues of importance for the three countries.

These include among others, the recent decision of the Kingdom Council of Ministers to give an instruction to the Governor of St. Maarten to investigate integrity related issues within the public administration, and the instruction given to the Governor of Aruba to with hold his signature to the draft budget of 2014 of that country.

The meeting was at the request of the Parliament of Aruba. It is against this back drop that Members of Parliament of the three countries have adopted and signed a resolution to be debated and accept a motion in their respective country.

Also on the island for the meeting were President of the Parliament of Aruba Marisole Tromp, the Chairman of the Kingdom Relations Committee of Aruba drs. G. R Herde, the President of the Parliament of Curacao Mike Franco, and the Chairman of the Kingdom relations Committee of that country, drs. Elmo Wilsoe.

Whilst speaking at a press conference on Tuesday morning at the House of Parliament, President of Parliament of St. Maarten, the Honorable drs. Gracita Arrindell gave some insight into the two resolutions.

Meanwhile, whilst speaking at the press conference, the Chairman of the kingdom Relations Committee of Aruba, the Honorable G. R Herde made clear that they were not here to meddle in the business of any of the countries, but rather to discuss a common goal for all parties.

Chairman of the Kingdom Relations Committee of St. Maarten, the Honorable Roy Marlin whilst addressing that issue at the press conference admits that they are in for an uphill battle.

He also made reference to a decision that was taken in 2009 by the then former Prime Minister of the Kingdom, Jan Peter Balkenende that a disputes arrangement would be put in place so disputes could be laid and discussed before the Kingdom Charter.
