Unbiased look at the Sint Maarten Elections
Dear Editor,
I read with interest the article in Monday's paper stating that Rain Forest Adventures met with members of the heritage, culture and environmental groups to share its plans for the Plantations Industry and Golden Rock.
In the article it was stated that Jadira Veen and Rueben Thompson of SXM Pride were not present. I would like the public to know that the reason they were not present is because THEY WERE NOT INVITED!
It seems Rain Forest Adventures and the organizers of the meeting picked and chose who they wanted to attend.
The community I am sure is well aware of SXM Pride’s outspoken opposition to this project. That is obviously the reason why they were not invited.
I know that Jadira Veen is currently off island but Rueben Thompson, a leading environmentalist, is on island and he knew nothing of this meeting. I find that appalling.
I would like it to be clarified that SXM Pride simply was not invited to this meeting. It is not that they just did not attend.
