Unbiased look at the Sint Maarten Elections
GREAT BAY, St. Maarten - The SXM Community Outreach Foundation on behalf of the campaign team to elect Leona Marlin-Romeo to Parliament made a donation to the Gazebo Socials group to assist to assist in preparation for the September 27th Belvedere Community Parade with the tenants of the Red Cross.
The donation Romeo-Marlin said was her way of giving back to the community in a meaningful way.
"I have been crusading for the upcoming elections," she explained. "I have met with the constituents and members of the various communities. So now instead of placing more billboard and flags on the already overcrowded streets, I have decided to divert a portion of all funds donated to my campaign to lesser known groups or foundations that are giving back to the community and could use these monies for a more meaningful cause."
The SXM Community Outreach Foundation said the Gazebo Socials was chosen because they are one of the organizations that continue to significantly contribute to the community by hosting various activities for the seniors residing in the homes, but are seldom recognized.
The Belvedere Community Parade this year will cover a wider perimeter in terms of distance and the seniors will be dressed in handmade attire as they distribute goodies to the neighborhood kids.
Mrs. Leona Marlin-Romeo has also pledged to donate all lumber used on her posters to the Gazebo Social for use in their agriculture beds, which once made can be reintroduced to the common outdoor space to plant various vegetables.
