>PHILIPSBURG:--- Prime Minister
Marcel Gumbs
on Wednesday said the nation was shocked with the callous act carried out by an individual resulting in law enforcement Officer G. Benjamin being shot while performing his duty to protect and serve the people of Sint Maarten.
On behalf of the Council of Ministers, our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Officer G. Benjamin, friends and colleagues at the Sint Maarten Police Force.
“We pray that Officer Benjamin will pull through this very difficult time, and we pray for his family for the Almighty to give them the strength during this very trying moment.
“Law enforcement is already carrying out an investigation into the incident and all measures based on the rule of law will be taken to address the spate of criminal activity that has beset the Philipsburg, area and other communities throughout the country,†Prime Minister Gumbs assured the nation on Wednesday.
