PHILIPSBURG--Finalising plans to tackle the country’s spiralling crime rate will have to wait, at least until after the passing of Hurricane Danny.
Parliament was scheduled to continue an in-camera Central Committee meeting with the Council of Ministers today, Friday, in Parliament House at 10:00am. However, that session has been postponed, according to a Parliament press release, based on a call from Prime Minister Marcel Gumbs.
He called for postponement due to the approaching hurricane and the need for preparations to ensure the country is ready for the first hurricane of the 2015 Atlantic Hurricane Season.
Aside from hurricane preparations, additional time is needed by Members of Parliament to review the proposed plan of approach drafted by the ministries for a comprehensive approach of government to accomplish short term results against crime.
