MARIGOT--The Collectivité has committed to investing 2 million euros in vocational training for the unemployed in keeping with its Youth Policy with 85 per cent of its financing coming from European Social Funds (ESF).

The recent two information days for its 2015-2016 territorial job training programme, supported by the Human Development Department under the portfolio of President Aline Hanson, was deemed a great success with a record attendance, the Collectivité noted in a release.

The information days were hosted in French Quarter and Sandy Ground, two districts considered as priority areas in the Contrat de Ville.

Since 2012, the partnership for vocational training has been widely developed to allow many job seekers (30 per cent of the working population) to have better chances at finding a job.

This year, the Collectivité is offering 27 different courses, each with 15 places, making more than 400 spaces in total. After previous studies, the training programme was adapted to the needs of the territory. Restaurant, construction trades and marine trades are the main industries. These academic courses include a period of internship with companies.

For further information on the various training programmes of the Collectivité and its partners, contact the Human Development Department from 8:00am to 3:00 pm at (0590) 29. 59. 24.
