Unbiased look at the Sint Maarten Elections
St. Maarten – UPNext, the youth arm of the United People party (UP) will launch its latest initiative today on Facebook. The group of young people has chosen to share vital information with their peers as well as the general social media community on three days of the week, each day with its own name. There will be Motivation Mondays, What’s UP Wednesdays and Fitness Fridays.
The goal of Motivation Mondays is to offer inspirational messages to young people as a contribution toward promoting good role models, their inspirational life stories and to communicate the values that make a difference in our communities. “We will let our own, inspire our own on Mondays,†UPNext said in a press release yesterday.
As for What’s Up Wednesdays: “Let’s face it, there are important things happening on our island in particular in the field of education. The problem is, these issues get lost in the every-day news-cycle of St. Maarten. On What’s Up Wednesdays we will focus on youth oriented community developments, career and college guidance, educational possibilities and general knowledge information,†the press release states.
Fitness Fridays will focus on healthy eating, kicking unhealthy habits, the importance of exercise, how staying healthy positively affects schools performance and more. Fitness Fridays will tackle myths and realities of exercise, tips and advice about daily routines and even how to make your own smoothies.
The group has been keeping busy since it was formed in 2014. They have hosted bakes sales, purchased Christmas gifts for the children at the various children’s homes, decorated those same homes with Christmas trees, participated in self-improvement sessions and recently held elections for its new board.
