PHILIPSBURG, St. Maarten - The St. Maarten Lions Club on the occasion of celebrating forty five (45) years during the month of December donated $10,000 total or $2000 each to five government subsidized schools on  St. Maarten.

The schools receiving the donations were based on urgent needs that they had for the purchase of items specifically for the school.

Sister Regina School received monies to purchase one(1) mobi pad and thirty (30) clickers response program for the Smart Board.  The Rev. John A. Gumbs Campus at the Methodist Agogic Center will use monies for the renovation of the Cycle 2 playground at the school. Helmich Snijders Hillside Christian School will purchase IT equipment for the implementation of the Digi-Kidz project at the school.  St. Maarten Vocational Training School received a donation for the painting and building of benches for the school and St. Maarten Seventh Day Adventist School will purchase IT back-up equipment to protect the computers/ laptop from electricity outages. All donations were made in the presence of the Honorable Minister of Education Silveria Jacobs who was on hand to assist the St. Maarten Lions Club to give out the various donations.“With the successful conclusion of our annual Lion Wally Havertong Christmas Bingo in early December, the St. Maarten Lions Club is delighted that we can put the fundraising monies to good use in the St. Maarten Community which coincides with our ongoing 45th anniversary year program” said Club President Lion Eldert Louisa. The St. Maarten Lions Club is presently preparing for its annual Lion Rudy Hoeve Health & Wellness Fair which is scheduled for Saturday March 5th at the Festival Village.
