Unbiased look at the Sint Maarten Elections
POINT BLANCHE, St. Maarten – Members of delegations attending last week’s IPKO meetings in St. Maarten, were also treated to a presentation hosted during a visit visited to the Seven Seas Water PB plant in Point Blanche.
During the event, held on Thursday, a power presentation was provided by Frederick Hung (VP-Business Analysis of SSW) and Lester Brian (local Operations Manager).
During that occasion, Franklyn Richards, managing director of Seven Seas Water (St. Maarten) highlighted the role of the company as a good corporate citizen, characterized among others by its regular donation program. The initiative places emphasis on strengthening the community by building up the esteem of the youth as well as assisting the elderly, supporting breakfast programs for financial challenged students, budgeting of 2 scholarships for students who aspire water engineering studies and partnering with government and the local utilities entity, GEBE.
With the main theme of the presentation being ‘reliable water supply’, Seven Seas Water officials explained to the delegates how Water-as-a-Service (WAAS) utilizes advanced purification technologies to supply high purity drinking and process water to municipal, industrial and commercial customers in communities worldwide.
The process entails limited capital investment for the customer, reliable, worry-free, low cost water supply and a guaranteed quantity and quality of water.
More communities than ever are outsourcing their water supply to dedicated water producers, such as Seven Seas Water, recognizing that desalination is a complicated process.
This allows communities to focus resources and capital on other fiscal budget items, delegates were told.
Detailing the benefits of water outsourcing, the IPKO delegates were further explained about known life-cycle costs, capital efficiency, improved water supply reliability and aligned interests, which includes a true partnership with the company’s customers.
Seven Seas Water representatives elaborated on how the company is operations focused and does not get paid if its plants are not producing on-spec water with the plant’s operations team staffed with highly experienced operators.
Information sharing, communications and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) are all part of what company officials termed “the Seven Seas Water Advantageâ€, during the tour of the plant facility.
Seven Seas Water has over 400 years of combined experience in the water industry and delivers 7 billion gallons of fresh water per year to its clients.
The St. Maarten plant has a 21,000 cubic meters per day current capacity and will be expanding to 25,000 cubic meters per day. As such, St. Maarten has not rationed water during the most recent period of drought seen throughout the Caribbean.
At the end of the well-received presentation, a token of appreciation was given to IPKO chairperson, St. Maarten’s president of parliament, Mrs. Sarah Wescot-Williams.
