Unbiased look at the Sint Maarten Elections

St. Maarten News – African Flavor, is a fairly new concert to St Maarten during the Carnival season, but after Bracket’s on stage performance on Tuesday evening inside the Festival Village, those that attended left with an appreciation for his style of music.
Some of those in attendance were suitably attired in outfits made entirely of African prints and that was their way of making a connection with two African entertainers, the first to perform for Carnival on St Maarten.
Headlining the concert which was organized by the Ikemba African Gallery on Front Street was Obumneme Ali a.k.a “Smash” and Nwachukwu Ozioko a.k.a “Vast” and they go by the name of Bracket, the group that made the smash hit Yori Yori popular and Benjai, known as the soca anthem phenomenon.
To add a touch of local flavor however, Roxanne ‘Roxxy-Webster had the pleasure of entertaining the gathering which was increasing by the minute with back up music by Fred York and Musicology.
Between acts, the Nirvana Dance group kept the gathering entertained before the MC for the night Fernando Clark invited King Timo to do one of the things he does the best. The first international artist on stage for the night was Oswald, who teamed up with Natisha Hanson, from the French side of the island.
Benjai, however added a bit of Caribbean flavor to the night’s proceedings and he knew how to keep the crowd alive and how to grab their attention.
When Bracket finally made their appearance, it was in grand style as they were escorted by members of the Nirvana Dance group who were dressed in black and looked like warriors.
Armed with shields and forming a protective barrier, they walked through the VIP section and onto the stage and for the duration the two remained on stage, there was never a dull moment.
One lucky person won an all expense trip to Nigeria after her ticket number was pulled. Manoucheca Isil-Saint, is that lucky person and for the handing over of the ticket, she was joined on stage by her boyfriend, Llewlyen Brown.
The Africans were also in for a huge surprise when they challenged any male in the crowd to try and emulate their singing style. Two went up but only one stood out and he earned $50 for his effort. One of the ladies that were invited on stage to dance Africa-style left the stage with an expensive pair of shades. To add the Midas touch, those that were attired in African outfits were invited on stage and were judged by the audience before a winner was declared.
