Unbiased look at the Sint Maarten Elections
PHILIPSBURG:---- Minister Plenipotentiary Doran-York once again commemorated International Women’s Day in The Hague, by honoring 12 ladies, for their individual achievements and also for their contribution towards the People of Sint Maarten living in the Netherlands.Minister Doran-York stated in her presentation, that she has been made aware, and has also experienced where persons of the Islands, who have been residing in The Netherlands for a very long period, have been going beyond the call of duty, to assist others in need of such especially students and newcomers.“â€This evening, I am honored to have in our midst a group of distinguished Ladies, who throughout their years here in the Netherlands, have stood out in various ways.I salute these Ladies because of the many lives that they have touched in a very special way, from the elderly, right down to the students. You have been an inspiration and encouragement to your fellow country men and women, by leading by example while constantly influencing, pushing and encouraging them. You are now considered as their heroes. Your actions should not and will not go unrecognized.I must remind you, of the strength that women display, when they ban together in order to get things done. We see the great results every day.I am extending heartfelt thanks to you, on behalf of myself as your Minister Plenipotentiary, your Deputy Minister Plenipotentiary, the staff at this Cabinet and on behalf of the Government and the people of Sint Maarten whom we representâ€, Minister Doran closed by saying.Deputy Minister Hasani Ellis also congratulated the honorees, and told those in attendance that he fully knows the strength of women, as he recalled his childhood days, where he saw especially how his mother and grandmother work extremely hard and succeeded to assist in maintaining their families.
