Dear Editor,

Anyone who follows what happens in the world of politics would be surprised if Theo Heyliger is really serious about becoming Prime Minister or, for that matter, holding any position of which he is not in complete control. That move that he made to publicly ridicule the Prime Minister in the paper of August 27, 2014, was as if he was testing to see how far the Dutch would go as a consequence of his behaviour towards the sitting Prime Minister. That is not the behaviour of an aspiring Prime Minister, so I am not impressed with what he is trying to portray.

Everybody is asking questions concerning the measures to be taken in connection with the screening of potential Ministers. And also, there is a march organized because people are not contented with the measures.

My question is, does not the Governor know whether what is ordered of him is right, legal or wrong? And should not this be made known to avoid misconception among the people?

Because of Gonzalo my communication is limited, but I read about the legal demand from Cornelius de Weever. I have not seen anything concrete which could legally condemn the steps of screening ordered by Holland. So, if we are in our right then we should be able to refuse to carry out those orders if they are unconstitutional and let justice take its course.

Now this: someone asked me what I think about Christopher. My opinion on that is whether all the MPs vote for that motion or not and whether Holland would adhere to it or not, everybody in that hall gave a great big sigh of relief. I know almost every one of them [and –Ed.] thought "thank you." It took a newcomer to the arena with clear but bothered conscience to free up all of them.

I HOPE they will remember how it feels to look a person in the eyes and tell them the truth. He broke the unwritten rule and code of conduct: "I will not talk on you if you don't talk on me." I HOPE by doing so he also broke the ice for many of them in there. No matter what happens from here, going forward, more is going to be revealed. That should be a hall of transparency, not of dark secrets. It is not a dungeon, it is a legislative hall. Christopher just created an army of envious people, men and women who are not big enough to tell the truth.

Many years ago I was invited to come to a school in uniform and talk about my job. During the discourse I asked several children if they would like to follow in the footsteps of their parents. There were different answers and also descriptions of the jobs that the parents did. After that session the teacher thanked me but remarked that she had noticed that I was reluctant to go into the jobs of croupier and politician. I told her I left those two for her to research and in a diplomatic way explain the children about those two jobs. I was not ready to explain those eight-year-olds what their parents did on the job.

Christopher did a whole lot of people a favour, in my opinion. Because of lack of ambition, the spending power of the people is diminishing, but with their salary and benefits, our MPs would not be able to explain that to their loved ones with a straight face.

By refusing, Christopher could stand up in that hall and represent the people without having to mince words or tell the people what he was ordered to do. Let us make this a trend. And if anyone wants to stand up against the Dutch, stop giving them ammunition to use against us but "do the right thing." In doing so, we will show THEM what is the right thing to do. There will not be any smoke screen and they too will have to come clean.
