Unbiased look at the Sint Maarten Elections
PHILIPSBURG:--- Member of Parliament Raeyhon Peterson was seen with persons moving around with other persons. MP Peterson was seen with at least two other people. Clearly the MP and those that were with him were not wearing masks. The PFP MP tested positive for the COVID-19, he was tested on July 28th, and on July 29th, 2020 Peterson made it known through a Facebook post that he went socializing and got tested to ensure he was not infected. It turned out that Peterson was positive and asymptomatic. So far its been 13 days since the MP was declared positive for COVID-19 and has not retested since July 28th to ensure that he is now negative and cleared.St. Maarten currently has 95 active COVID-19 cases as of August 10th yet an elected Member of Parliament and representative of the people chose to not take all the precautions necessary to avoid the spread of the deadly virus that has claimed 17 lives on St. Maarten. Clearly, the MP a representative of the people did not show maturity and responsibility when he went out to socialize in a nightclub without a mask. At the time St. Maarten reopened its businesses the COVID-19 pandemic was still active in several countries where people have been losing their lives on a daily basis. Not only the MP did take responsibility back then but again he is not even adhering to basic measures to ensure that spread of the virus is contained. With this type of behavior, the MP who was caught red-handed should do the honorable thing and resign from his post at Parliament. Hopefully, his party leader who also tested positive for COVID-19 will do the honorable thing since she proclaims to have integrity and is responsible.
