Unbiased look at the Sint Maarten Elections
PHILIPSBURG:--- Prime Minister Silveria Jacobs announced on Wednesday that she will be meeting with the Prfet Dlgu on Wednesday afternoon with the staff of CPS. The meeting that was previously planned was deferred to today Wednesday to accommodate the Head of the ARS Valerie Denux who will be visiting St. Martin today and also be part of the meeting that is related to COVID-19.Jacobs said the meeting on Wednesday will focus on a joint plan and a way forward for both sides to deal with COVID-19 moving forward.
In the meantime, the Prime Minister confirmed that St. Maarten does not have the financial resource in place to test everyone that has been in contact with persons that are tested positive for COVID-19. Jacobs said that persons with symptoms are being tested however, the government encourages everyone that has been in direct contact with COVID-19 cases to follow the basic procedures of self-quarantine for a period of 14 days. Just recently a staff member of the Ministry of Justice tested positive causing the staff of the ministry to begin self-isolation even though none are showing symptoms of COVID-19.
