Unbiased look at the Sint Maarten Elections
PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten – The Minister ofPublic Health,Social Development and LaborOmar Ottleyextends his sincere condolencesto the familyand friendsof Sint Maartens31stCOVID-19 victim, whohaspassed away.Heart felt thoughts go out the familyin this time of sorrow.
As of June 10th, there were eight (8) persons who tested positive for COVID-19; howeverone (1) person had recovered; bringing the total active cases to seventy seven (77). The total number of confirmed cases is now two thousand five hundred eleven (2511).
The Collective Prevention Services (CPS) are monitoring seventy three (73) people in home isolation. Four (4) patients are hospitalized at the St. Maarten Medical Center. The total number of deaths due to COVID-19 has increased to thirty one (31).
The number of people recovered since the first case surfaced on St. Maarten has increased to two thousand four hundred three (2403). One hundred thirty six (136) people are in quarantine based on contact tracing investigations carried out by CPS.
The Ministry ofPublic Health,Social Development and Labour (VSA) Airport Health Team in collaboration with Health Care Laboratory Sint Maarten(HCLS)havetested3, 063travelers arriving at the Princess Juliana International Airport (PJIA), while CPStested 30, 424people throughout the community. As the numbers continue to fluctuate,CPS will continue to actively execute its contact tracing measures.
Minister Ottley would like to urge our residents and visitors to be mindful and practice the public health interventions; mask wearing, social distancing, and frequent hand washing. If you have not been vaccinated, please go out and do so.
