PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten – The Minister ofPublic Health,Social Development and Labor,Omar Ottleyextends his heartfelt sympathy tothe familyand friendsof Sint Maartens62ndCOVID-19 victim, who haspassed away. Hewishesthe familystrength duringthis time.
As ofSeptember 24th,therewere nineteen (19)personswho tested positive for COVID-19;howevereighteen (18)persons have recovered; bringing the total active casesto one hundred sixty five (165). Thetotalnumberofconfirmed casesis nowfour thousand one hundred ninety seven (4197).
The Collective Prevention Services (CPS) are monitoring one hundred fifty five (155) peoplein home isolation. Ten (10) patients are hospitalized at the St. Maarten Medical Center. The total number of deaths due to COVID-19 has increased to sixty two (62).
The number of people recovered since the first case surfaced on St. Maarten has increased to three thousand nine hundred seventy (3970). One hundred ten (110) people are in quarantine based on contact tracing investigations carried out by CPS.
The Ministry ofPublic Health,Social Development and Labour (VSA) Airport Health Team in collaboration with Health Care Laboratory Sint Maarten(HCLS)havetested3,707travelers arriving at the Princess Juliana International Airport (PJIA), while CPStested 41,509people throughout the community. As the numbers continue to fluctuate,CPS will continue to actively execute its contact tracing measures.
Minister Ottley urges the public to come out tomorrow Saturday,September 25th,atSMMC premises in Cayhill from9:00am to 3:00pm. On site there will bethe vaccination pop-up drive, Prostate cancer screeningand ahealth check corner.
