Unbiased look at the Sint Maarten Elections
PHILIPSBURG:--- After 11 years the Function Book for Justice workers has been approved confirmed Minister of Justice Anna Richardson on Monday. The Minister of Justice said that the function book took 11 long years since St. Maarten became a country within the Kingdom. Minister Richardson further explained that the new legislation will be published in the Landscourant (National Gazette) in the very near future. She explained that the structure and formation for the justice workers have also been approved. The Minister of Justice also explained that there is a consensus agreement with all unions in place and hopefully the long-awaited function book will be signed off. Unions such as the Windwards Islands Civil Servants and Private Sector union signed off. The preparation of the function book took an enormous amount of time to discuss and negotiate the minister said. Attorney at Law Peggy Ann Brandon, the legal advisor for the Ministry discussed the function book with all unions including the NAPB and ABVO, and it is shocking to see them saying they were not aware of the details of the function book."
She further explained that during the budget debate she will be giving a detailed walk-through on the next steps that have to be followed.
