Mc Sood's cricket dream comes through in Carty

CUL DE SAC--When the then president of St. Maarten Cricket Association, Imran Mc Sood announced that he wished that St. Maarten would provide her first player for a West Indies team by 2014, Kacey Carty was just three years at the time.
Fifteen years later, Carty was selected to represent the West Indies U19 team in the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) NAGICO sponsored one-day tournament which bowls off in Trinidad and Tobago on January 15.
At a press conference at the NAGICO Conference Hall, a beaming Mc Sood stated, "I just wanted to have the opportunity today to express to Kacey and also his father Kieth how very happy I am personally about his call up to represent the West Indies U19 team for the NAGICO Super50 tournament. Many of you will know that 15 years ago when we started the youth programme with Leonard Mc Rae and Johnny Persaud that one of my dream was by the end of 2014, St. Maarten, preferably a St. Maarten born player should provide a West Indies player."
Although, Daniel Doram's feat of playing for The Netherlands senior team is on par with this achievement, Carty's path of playing for the West Indies U19 team has brought joy to Mc Sood who has funded local cricket for more than 25 years.
Carty received a batting pad and batting glove and was given a bat also a few month ago by Mc Sood.
Keith Carty, the father of Kacey expressed a big "thank you" to Mc Sood for his personal contribution.
The younger Carty stated, "I would like to thank Mc Sood and NAGICO for all the help shown to me. It feels nice that you have recognised my commitment and talent shown to me. Thanks again for everything."
Carty's ascendency came on the heels of an outstanding West Indies regional U19 tournament in which he was the leading run-scorer of the tournament for the Leeward Islands in Guyana, this year. He scored one century and two half centuries.
The West Indies U19 team is scheduled to play in Group B which also comprises of Trinidad and Tobago, the Leeward Islands and Jamaica.
The teams in Group A are Guyana, Barbados, Windward Islands and Combined Campuses and Colleges.
