Unbiased look at the Sint Maarten Elections
Dear Editor,
Anyone who looked in The Daily Herald of Friday, January 30th, and saw the commercial from Music Man thanking the people for voting them the best place to buy Electronics, would be under the impression that that was in India or some dependent of India. This has nothing to do with human discrimination whatsoever, but it is a classic example of what the hot topic is based on these days.
One of the MP's in his debate during the budget meeting made it clear, when he was making a point concerning the counterpart policy, that it did not take rocket scientists to sell TV's and watches, with which I concur. Eighty percent of the staff and personnel of that place of business is of Indian decent, and when I look at the faces of the other four I am not ready to agree that they are of Sint Maarten decent.
We have to start calling a spade a spade. I read the opinion of Jeff Berger pertaining to the time share industry and I believe that his trend of thought and intention for Sint Maarten are similar to mine. The truth does not change people. So we have to stop tampering with the real thing to be able to see what "I can get out of it for myself".
Can that million that MP Lake wants to save be used to upgrade Sint Maarten University? It is not clear to me if by MP William Marlin changing his tune on leasing Emilio Wilson Estate is a good or bad thing. If it is for the better, then why waste time knowing that it is for the best. If not, then he should pay the consequences of not thinking things out thoroughly before acting.
Now this! A few nights back I was starting to worry about my sight, because I could swear that I was seeing double or seeing ghosts. I was sure that I was seeing MP Frans Richardson on Oral Gibbs during the budget meeting. After confirming that nothing was wrong with me, but that indeed MP Richardson was on Oral Gibbs during the budget meeting, there is no other conclusion than to accept that MP Frans Richardson is constantly proving that he really does not have the people's interest at heart. He is just continues to not care about attending Parliament meetings. His attendance record proves it.
I know that there are some dedicated and serious young people in the US Party. In seeing the trend of MP Frans Richardson, I HOPE that the people, who voted for those young ones, do not see them in the same light as Frans and Leona. I am not saying this as a supporter of the US Party, but of all those young candidates, who went in there with good intentions for Sint Maarten.
I am still waiting for a logical explanation why more candidates of the UP party are not in government. Probably that should be one of the conditions in that pledge. Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me!
