Rhoda Arrindell, invited author at Anguilla Literary Festival 2015

>GREAT BAY:---- Educator and leading linguist
Rhoda Arrindell
is one of at least 12 authors, mostly from the USA, invited by the Anguilla Literary Festival to its 4th annual edition on May 21-24, 2015, said her publisher House of Nehesi (HNP).
Arrindell will be a panelist on book publishing on May 23. But it's her new and well-selling book, Language, Culture, and Identity in St. Martin that has been drawing attention to her from literary, language, and culture conferences in St. Martin, Costa Rica, Trinidad, and now Anguilla, said HNP president Jacqueline Sample.
In Anguilla the St. Martin author will be among a competitive set of authors – including Zane; editors that have worked with Essence and Oprah's magazine and book club; publicists that have worked on books by the likes of TD Jakes; a Grammy-award winning spoken word artist; and newly published authors, including Marlon James, who already has HBO knocking down his door to turn his new novel into a movie.
"Rhoda will be a great St. Martin representative at the table," said Sample. "She
has a sound knowledge of Caribbean and comparative literatures; and she's an experienced scientific researcher."
"Rhoda can also discuss with the audience, which will include tourists, students, and aspiring writers at the Anguilla festival, the down-to-earth points that a critical editor
looks for once a manuscript is accepted by a publisher," said Sample.
As a senior editor at HNP, Arrindell has worked on the manuscripts of books by
George Lamming and Kamau Brathwaite, Yvette Hyman's bestselling cookbook, and the upcoming anthology of 43 Anguillian writers, Where I See The Sun – Contemporary Poetry in Anguilla, said Sample.
Language, Culture, and Identity is Arrindell's first book, but she has previously
edited a seminal anthology of St. Martin writings and has co-authored chapters in a book of linguistic studies edited by Dr. Nicholas Faraclas of the University of Puerto Rico.
Language, Culture, and Identity will be available at the literary festival at
Paradise Cove, Anguilla, and the author will be available for book signing. Arrindell is
the third St. Martin writer published by HNP invited to participate in the Anguilla lit fest over the last four years.
