Youth Policy Plan Stakeholders Session Organized By Department Of Youth

PHILIPSBURG – The Department of Youth hosted a consultation session with stakeholders to discuss the Integrated Youth Policy Plan (IYP) on Friday, December 9, at the University of St. Martin (USM).

The purpose of the consultation session was to discuss relevant areas concerning youth development on St. Maarten as well as strategies for effective implementation as outlined in the draft document.

Dp Commemorates World Literacy Day

PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten — On September 8, countries all over the world are celebrating the 50th anniversary of International Literacy Day.

The Democratic Party (DP) candidates have chosen to dedicate their time to take part in a project that involves taking the time to go to different schools or community after school programs and read to our youth. Member of Parliament Sarah Wescot-Williams took time to read to the students of the Seventh Day Adventist School (SDA) School, and Jorien Wuite read to the youths at the Sister Borgia School.

Wuite Calls 26% Youth Unemployment ‘Nuts’

PHILIPSBURG--“Nuts” is how Jorien Wuite, Secretary-General for Education and Youth as well as Parliamentarian hopeful, described the current 26 per cent youth unemployment rate in the country.

“There is no room for complacency anymore, and it’s time to get out of our comfort zone. Dp Initiates Youth “Wish List" On Int'l Youth Day

PHILIPSBURG, St. Maarten - On Friday, the Democratic Party (DP) kicked off its commitment to the United Nations International Youth Day which is globally observed on August 12th.

Dwayne Griffith, the former president of the Sint Maarten Youth Parliament had the honor of being the first one to write down his wishes for Sint Maarten’s future.
