>PHILIPSBURG: --- Information reaching SMN News states that the eight members of parliament who voted a motion of no confidence against the current Gumbs cabinet already have candidates that will fill the Ministries.
SMN News learnt that Leader of the
National Alliance
William Marlin
will become the next Prime Minister of St. Maarten, deputy leader of the
National Alliance
Silveria Jacobs
will become the Minister of Education, Youth, and Sports.
SMN News further learnt that the
National Alliance
leader has contacted former Minister of Finance
Roland Tuitt
who is currently working in Aruba and offered him the position as Minister of Finance it is not yet known if Tuitt accepted the offer and if he will return to St. Maarten to take on the position as Minister of Finance; while the
Democratic Party
will appoint
Emil Lee
as the Minister of Labor, Health and Social Affairs (VSA), USP
Frans Richardson
will appoint Ruben Thomson as Minister of Justice. MP
Silvio Matser
is currently interviewing several persons to see which one will be suitable for the Ministry of TEATT and will easily pass the screening process, while MP
Maurice Lake
will appoint Veronica Jenson Webster as Minister of VROMI.
While the
National Alliance
also got the Minister of Plenipotentiary it is not yet known who will be the candidate for that position.
SMN News tried to confirm the information provided but the politicians that are forming the current coalition are very tightlipped on the process they began months ago.
According to the information provided to SMN News states that
Rodolphe Samuel
and
Hyacinth Richardson
are the two persons in line to become Members of Parliament that will be replacing the leader and deputy leader of the
National Alliance
who will be moving over to the executive branch of government.
Leader of the
Democratic Party
Sarah Wescot Williams
will be the chairlady of Parliament, whose main mission is to get the Parliament of St. Maarten to function as a Parliament. The source said that Wescot Williams intend to straighten a number of things that are not in line with the rules and regulation of Parliament while she intends to stop the victimization against civil servants that are being sent home at age 60 while it is already mandatory for St. Maarten to increase its pension age to 62.
SMN News will bring you more information on the formation process which still has to be finalized. One of the objective of the coalition partners that has a very slim majority in parliament is to get their Ministers in place in record time and they are also focusing on persons they know will pass the screening process.
