Unbiased look at the Sint Maarten Elections
GREAT BAY – Local and aspiring leaders left the Belair Community Center inspired, invigorated and recharged after Leadercast, the world’s largest one-day leadership conference, broadcast live from Atlanta, Georgia, and simulcast to hundreds of locations around the world on May 6.
Leadercast was hosted by Victorious Living Foundation (VLF), which empowers, enlightens and reconciles individuals, couples, families, organizations and communities, for the fourth consecutive year. The local host for Leadercast was Andre Huie, the founding president of Youth to Xtreme (Y2X), Victorious Living’s youth wing. Huie is now the managing director of Voice of the Caribbean (VOC), owned and operated by Palm Branch Media, a media production and consulting company he founded.
Minister of Finance, and Acting Prime Minister of St. Maarten Richard Gibson Sr., spoke on behalf of Prime Minister William Marlin, who was away on Government business. Minister Gibson commended Victorious Living for hosting Leadercast and described the event as important for the people of St. Maarten.
Leadercast Victorious Living SXM received rave reviews from all participants. Pastor Judith Cicilia of the David Company, headed by Apostle Alicia Liverpool stated to the visionary of VLF Dr. Erna Mae Francis-Cotton and team: “Thank you for a great Leadercast Session. Everything was on point; the broadcast (Internet service; provided by Caribserve), the MC, the staff. You put a lot of work into this event, and the level was notable. Thank you for being such a visionary to bring this much needed information to St. Maarten. Much appreciation to you and your VLF Team.â€
Brenda Maynard, Head of Administration and Facilities of the Parliament of St. Maarten, who attended for the fourth time, said: “It was an amazing learning experience; loved it.â€

Among the impressive lineup of speakers were: Network Broadcaster, CBS Sports and News James Brown, who was a favourite among the participants. He shared that to be successful in one’s life it is important to determine how successful you want to become and then build the corresponding depth of character in one’s life; Leadership Author and Communicator Andy Stanley, another favourite of the audience,underscored the importance of being clear about one’s vision in order to achieve success. He stated: “Clarity is the single thing every leader needs if they are going to move forward because clarity results in influence, which is the essence of leadershipâ€; Acclaimed Leadership Expert, Clinical Psychologist, and Best-Selling Author, Henry Cloud, who highlighted that all the elements and strategies of leadership are important, but it is the connection of the people that drives performance.
Co-founder of Apple, Inc. Steve Wozniak shared that his drive to think outside of the box and his understanding of the users of Apple’s products are two keys to his success over the years. St. Maarten’s Architects of Tomorrow, Dwayne Patrick Griffith, Chasen Williams, Kamilah  Gumbs, Roy Cotton Jr. and Huie also presented at Leadercast, and shared their vision for St. Maarten, the region and the world as young intellectuals. They were well received by the audience.
Leadercast Victorious Living SXM’s host site incorporated brain dance, a centering body/brain movement tool for brain reorganization, oxygenation, and recuperation at the end of each segment and culminated the day in a corporate dance of “Break the Chain.†Brain Dance prepares persons for learning and helps with appropriate behavior and social skills and was used to ensure that participants stayed engaged throughout the day.
VLF thanked the National Institute of Arts (NIA) in St. Maarten through Rudolph Davis, who facilitated the brain dance sessions. Many lives were transformed through Leadercast 2016 and VLF thanked all of its partners and participants for making it a success.
