Unbiased look at the Sint Maarten Elections
PHILIPSBURG, St. Maarten - As a new Party we need 146 signatures 1% of the last election total votes cast from persons to help support our list.
The endorsement is very important for new political parties that would like to have a fair opportunity to contest the elections to try to convey their message as a political association.
Without the support of the community we wont be able to contest the elections and have a chance to bring a new perspective to the political scene on the island that has been very turbulent over the last few years and are now dealing with the consequences there of in all the senses of the word.
The 3 candidates that will be postulating themselves on the HOPE list will be Lucrecia “Loekie†Morales, a new comer to the political scene Mr. Jacinto Mock that already has had some experience and myself Mercedes, “Elektra†van der Waals-Wyatt.
Therefore the HOPE party is requesting the support of the community at large to be able to contest the elections for these signatures on August 9th from 9am to 4 pm at the Cencus Office on Pond Island.
You Endorsing the the new political list does not mean you are voting for them. It just means that you are giving them a chance lending your support to contest the election and perhaps be a sense of fresh air to the current political scenery with new ideas visions and messages.
Dialogue and communication to the public is always the key to include persons of what is going on in the community. Through openess and transparency , having dialogue with the community at large and informing them, we would like try achieve goals together.
My mother has always thought me if you know better , try to do better and help in any way possible, and that is what HOPE is trying to do for the community of St. Maarten. I was also tired of being a citizen that felt disheartend and very much concerned about the political developments and the stability of St. Maarten and that’s why I decided to get busy and work towards making things better as best I can.
Many candidates will be partaking in the September 26 elections for 15 seats to be your voice in parliament to represent the entire populatio of St Maarten according to Article 43 of our Constitution.
Postulation day is upon us and as a New Leader of a the political party HOPE I would like to wish all future candidates and especially all new political parties that will postulate themselves positive energy and good luck on their campaign trails, as we are doing this for the community and the best interest for the people of St. Maarten.
