GREAT BAY (DCOMM):--- Minister of Education Silveria Jacobs issued a tribute with respect to civil servant Chantal Schaminee-Ringeling who worked at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Youth and Sports.

“Chantal Schaminee-Ringeling was a bright light full of energy, motivated with a bubbly and positive attitude, always ready to help everyone she could, with the ability to light up a room.

“Husband John, daughter Thalia, mom Carmen and brothers, her live spirit and positive energy could no longer be contained in this frail human form we inhabit, she now lives in the vast expanse of time and space and lives within each and everyone she has loved or touched in some special way.

“Today I'd like to offer words of comfort and hope through these words of scripture.

Letter To The Editor

As a God-fearing woman/wife/mother of three I decided to take up this new challenge to run for Parliament in the upcoming elections.

My reason for doing so is the fact that through the years I have seen a lot of changes in St. Maarten. Some good and some extremely bad that were not in the best interest of our people. St. Maarten has become a country of many surprises especially by those in whom we have put our trust.

For example, you can wake up any morning just to hear that the government has fallen Read more

The Silver Lining Of A Disastrous Six Years Of Country Status!

PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten — Today, after I washed towels, cleaned my fan, made milk pops for the kids (well, actually I fight for them also) and cooked lunch for my family, of course I started reflecting on St. Maarten and the problems facing us as a people. These thoughts are ever present in my mind.

In the past 6 years, we had 5 governments, which included various combinations of the same groups of persons, which have failed to demonstrate the moral fortitude and maturity required to run this new status.

Initially everyone, including myself, saw this as a ridiculous situation and a political nightmare, but I think we need to start to see it as a “blessing” in disguise Read more
