PHILIPSBURG: --- Justice workers will receive a 25% advance payment as early as today April 26th, 2023, Minister of Justice Anna Richardson announced at the weekly press briefing on Wednesday. The Minister said that the Council of Ministers met with the unions over the weekend to discuss and determine the particulars of the payments which are based on the Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2019.

Man Who Lost Foot Had Jumped Into Water To Swim To Water Taxi

 PHILIPSBURG--The tourist whose lower right foot was severed by the blades of a water taxi propeller during a horrific accident on Tuesday, had jumped into the water and was swimming to the vessel when he was sucked under the back of the boats platform resulting in the mishap.

He did not fall between the boat and the pier while either exiting or embarking the vessel as was previously reported to this newspaper by police spokesperson Ethelwoldus Josepha on Tuesday.

A video of the incident shows the man, a passenger of the Ubersoca Cruise that had been visiting the island, swimming to the water taxi and when he attempted to climb onto the back of the boat he slipped off, was sucked under the boat, which led to screams by persons on the boat Read more

3,908 De-Registered In Civil Registry Clean Up

PHILIPSBURG — A total of 3,908 persons have been de-registered from St. Maartens Civil Registry as part of the clean-up process of the registry.
