Colombia’s Maria Lopes-Perez is Miss Caraïbes Hibiscus 2015

MAHO--Maria Alejandra Lopez-Perez from Colombia was selected Miss Caraïbes Hibiscus 2015 on Saturday evening at Casino Royale in Maho. The beautiful Colombian, who was also Miss Pan-America in 2013, beat eight other contestants for the crown.

Originally there had been 13 contestants, however, Miss St. Martin/St. Maarten Lisandre Nicoise had withdrawn from the competition, and contestants from Curaçao, the Dominican Republic and Venezuela's flights were cancelled as the result of a bomb scare at SXM Princess Juliana International Airport Read more

PSS N.V. says personalized stamps can be a fun and unique way to capture unique moments and communicate them not only within the St. Maarten community, but also around the world via traditional postal systems.

The personalized stamps service was officially launched at the A.C. Wathey Cruise & Cargo Facilities on October 17, 2014 along with the official opening of a new post office location at the Harbour.

To mark the occasion, PSS staff produced a series of personalized stamps for their invited guests during the opening ceremonies to demonstrate how quickly and easily a sheet of official stamps can be produced and instantly make use of an historic moment.

Usm Alumni Host Youth Forum

PHILIPSBURG, St. Maarten -- The "Students Stand Up" Youth Forum was organized by the USM Alumni Foundation on Tuesday evening in order to provide the opportunity for students to voice their perspective and concerns about various situations prevalent throughout St. Maarten.

With youth of various ages in attendance at the University of St. Martin, the Forum provided an outlet for the youth to be involved in the shaping and direction for reform of the education system, labour market, career development, and other pertinent areas affecting the ability for our youth to grow and prosper.

>POND ISLAND:--- Packages of backpacks, pencil cases, agendas, coloring books and crayons were presented to representatives of Genevieve de Weever, Dr Martin Luther King Jr, and Academy PSVE schools by TelEm Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Mrs. Helma Etnel, during a brief presentation ceremony at the TelEm Group Main building on Pond Island Monday.
A similar package of school supplies was also presented to a representative of the Academy PSVE school also later in the day, Monday.
