Royal Caribbean Confirms Holiday Cruise Schedule And Is On Track For December 17 Return. 

~ Sister cruise line Celebrity Cruises returns February 2018 ~

PORT ST. MAARTEN – A Port St. Maarten delegation from the Cruise Business Unit met recently with Royal Caribbean International (RCI) representatives in Miami, Florida, to provide an update on the progress of current recovery efforts in destination Sint Maarten.

During the discussions, Royal Caribbean reiterated its commitment to the destination and provided a schedule of the vessels that will call on Sint Maarten starting in mid-December, just in time for the peak family travel season.

Grandeur of the Seas will be the first cruise ship bringing guests to rediscover the marquee destination on December 17, followed by daily visits across six vessels, including two of the world’s largest cruise ships.

The ships and dates are as follows: Independence of the Seas, December 25 and 29; Jewel of the Seas, December 26; Freedom of the Seas, December 27; Adventure of the Seas, December 31; and Harmony of the Seas and Oasis of the Seas on January 2 and 3, 2018 respectively.

Prime Minister & Minister Of Tourism Welcome Back 1St Commercial Flights To Sint Maarten

SIMPSON BAY  –  On Tuesday 10-10-17, Prime Minister William Marlin and Minister of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Traffic and Telecommunication Melissa Arrindell Doncher welcomed the 1st commercial flights to Sint Maarten marking the re-opening of PJIAE / SXM Airport.

The two Ministers were present 7:50 am in the morning to welcome the first flight, WINAIR that arrived from Saba beginning the historic day that saw 6 flights land with one cancellation.

Curfew Has Been Adjusted From 9 Pm To 6 Am

PHILIPSBURG – The Government of Sint Maarten together with the French Side authorities has decided to adjust the curfew from 9:00 PM till 6:00 AM  as of today, Monday September 25th. The new curfew hours will be in effect until Monday October 2nd 2017.

The joint decision was taken during a meeting on cross-border cooperation on Monday afternoon. In attendance was President of the Collectivitie Daniel Gibbs, Prefet Anne Laubies, His Excellency Governor Eugene Holiday, Minister of Justice Rafael Boasman and Minister of Tourism Melissa Arrindell Doncher.

Telem Group Ceo Cautions Against “Free Wi-Fi” Idea For St. Maarten

Pond  Island –  TelEm Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mr. Kendall Dupersoy, is advising “caution” to an idea coming out of a recently concluded telecommunication conference in the Dominican Republic, that St. Maarten can enhance its telecommunication services to residents and visitors by offering free Wi-Fi throughout the island.

Com Meets With Full Complement Of Ministers Last Tuesday

GREAT BAY, Sint Maarten (DCOMM) – Minister of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transport and Telecommunication, Mellissa Arrindell-Doncher, joined her colleague Ministers in her first Council of Ministers meeting on Tuesday, April 4.

The meeting was adjourned for the Ministers to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Minister Arrindell-Doncher and resumed after.

At the onset, Minister co-signed her first national decree which contained the so-called ‘vervangingsregeling’, which regulates which minister replaces another minister when he / she is unable to execute his / her responsibilities; this can, for example, be related to illness, travel on behalf of government, or vacation.
