PHILIPSBURG (DCOMM):---  Hurricane Tammy at 5:00 AM was located approximately 60 miles northeast of Sint Maarten and was at its closest point to the island according to the latest update from the Meteorological Department of Sint Maarten.

Prime Minister Silveria Jacobs on Sunday morning said that the nation is truly blessed thus far to have experienced minimal tropical storm-force winds.

Hurricane-force winds were on the eastern side of Tammy and therefore the country didnt experience those types of winds.
