PHILIPSBURG:--- On Friday, August 19th of last, the Central Voting Bureau held a public meeting - in accordance with article 30 Kiesverordening - regarding the validity of the lists of candidates and the maintenance of candidates on the lists. As per article 33 Kiesverordening, any voter can appeal a decision taken in said meeting, within a period of two days. As said two day period ended on a Sunday, it automatically extends to Monday, August 22nd as per article 133 Kiesverordening. As such, yesterday was the final day for the filing of an appeal.

PHILIPSBURG: --- The members of the voting bureau, chaired by Attorney at law Jason Rogers announced on Friday that a total of nine political parties will contest the September 26th parliamentary elections. All nine political parties that submitted their lists had to make corrections with the three-day time frame stipulated by law.
Rogers said that all the political parties had errors on their list, and they were given the time to make those corrections.
The nine political parties that will be on the ballots are UPP, HOPE, SMCP, OSPP, PPA, SDM, DP, USP and the NA.

>GREAT BAY (DCOMM):--- Sint Maarten's participation in the United Nations (UN) 3rd Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS) that took place early September in the South Pacific Ocean island nation of Samoa, will be presented in a meeting on Tuesday to the Inter-Ministerial Working Group.
