Decolonization Committee.

PHILIPSBURG:---I believe MP Cornelius de Weever got a little overzealous when he suggested placing the matter of reinstating St. Maarten on the UN's list of non-self governing territories on the IPKO agenda for next week. For starters, the IPKO agenda is determined by consensus of all 4 parliaments.

Mp Franklin Meyers Question The Process Leading To The Sale Of Government Projects

PHILIPSBURG – Member of Parliament (MP) Franklin Meyers on Tuesday commended the chairlady of Parliament Member of Parliament Sarah Wescot-Williams, for her contributions made over the past eight years to the country.

MP Meyers added that for the record, he has known Wescot-Williams for more than 20 something years, and had the opportunity to serve and work with her in Government in the past.

“In connection with when we question the process leading to the sale of government projects, it still boils down that the new government building, the harbors, the airports, and the causeways were products of our imagination, Those were not just done on paper but are actual living feeling things that you can touch today and you can say that we have a harbour, we have an airport, we have a boardwalk, we have the beautification of different parts of the island, and we have the causeway.

“As I told parliament on Tuesday, the causeway did not have to come to parliament for parliament’s approval, because the causeway was not government property Read more

PHILIPSBURG:--- The landfill (dump) in Philipsburg is on fire again and the perils with the new garbage collection contracts in general have only added to the frustration.
Some might feel that this is open political season and we could now point fingers at the persons who were in charge of areas like Public Works etc. for many years, and under whose responsibility this matter fell.
We could use the lack of visible action by those persons as political ammunition and start to "shoot" at these persons who over the years and for mainly selfish reasons have stalled, turned back, reversed or whatever the case might have been, any plan that had to do with arriving at a solution for the Philipsburg landfill.
However, this blame game will not get us any closer to a solution at this time.
