~ Says Alliance clearly not for its voters ~

PHILIPSBURG;--- Independent Member of Parliament Christophe Emmanuel on Friday said it is unbelievable that the Prime Minister of St. Maarten, an educator by profession, would openly label government as an equal opportunity employer when discussing qualified St. Maarteners getting first preference over non-St. Maarteners with employment. This is the ultimate betrayal of our people and everyone who voted for the National Alliance and who anticipated being prioritized by that party, the MP said.
The MP was reacting to Prime Minister Silveria Jacobs explanation about what is happening at the Fire Department with the hiring of a Dutchman as Head of Repression Read more

Organized Confusion The At The PeopleS Expense

Dear Editor,

In the midst of the high level of confusion around the play on words like trajectory, the constant repositioning of this governing coalition with regards to COHO, the petition to the United Nations and continued liquidity support, one thing remains glaringly constant: The everyday plight and hopelessness felt by the average citizens of this country.

The obvious lack of strategic planning with regards to the petition to the U.N. and the seemingly unprepared demeanor for responses of State Secretary Knops, hit this coalition like a deer caught in the headlights of an eighteen wheeler container truck Read more

Leaders Should Lead By Example

PHILIPSBURG – Before taking the COVID-19 vaccine at the Belair Community Center on Wednesday morning, faction leader of the National Alliance (NA), Member of Parliament (MP) William Marlin said that our leaders should lead by example.

He wanted the public at large to know, that because he believes the vaccine is safe and necessary, he and his wife Gabrielle have taken the shot in the arm.

After taking the vaccine and waiting to see if there would be any reactions for like 20 minutes, MP Marlin told reporters, that the injection in his right arm was painless, he said.  Taking the vaccine was definitely more comfortable than taking the COVID-19 test twice.

MP Marlin said that many of his contacts has responded to register for the vaccine.  Several of them told him, you go ahead, I wont be taking it, at the least, not now.  For this reason, I want my family and friends to know that we have taken the test and are feeling quite fine Read more

At the end of the day, 98 persons had donated a total of 4,476 US dollars and 4.359 guilders. The Group had expected to raise more funds so as to be able to assist more people who are in need. Seeing the limited amount of money that was raised, the Group has decided to continue the drive and has begun to knock on the doors of companies and businesses.

Besides, because of the limited amount of funds raised thus far, the COVID-19 Relief Group has decided to only assist persons with food and medication at this time Read more
